Okay I’m typing after one collage because WordPress is being retarded and won’t let me start typing up at the top. So I’m really sorry for this extreme month-long over due post of our trip to San Francisco. The primary reason we made that trip was because ‘Swing’ (Leon’s short film) was being shown at the Castro for the Frameline 34Festival. Also, it coincided with the San Francisco Pride Weekend which turned out to be a grand affair.
Fact: San Francisco is one of the cities where people are allowed to be completely nude at the Pride Parade.
We also caught Wicked! the musical at the Orpheum Theatre and were very fortunate to have gotten front row seats (which were usually 80 dollars) for HALF that price. It was on the same night, and they were restricted view but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves all the same. The cast members were right in front of our noses, and we could see and hear everything within a close proximity.
Travelling around SF is really easy, and we bought passes that allowed us access onto almost everything, as many times as we wanted. We went to Fisherman’s Wharf to eat at Scoma’s, on trolley adventures to take in the sight and sounds of picturesque San Franciso, took in the culture at the Haight shopping strip (I got clothes, and a really cheap Harry Potter hard cover collectible edition of The Deathly Hallows!, and of course, DVDS from the famous Amoeba Music) [Amoeba music deserves a whole post by itself, the LA 12 can fully, and whole heartedly attest to that. Maybe I’ll get them to do a photoblog of their ‘Steals’.]
Orange Village Hostel was awesome, we had a cute Korean receptionist who was very accommodating to our needs, and was extremely friendly and helpful.
During our trip, Michelle and I also met this homeless woman who had 2 full grown service dogs with her. We gave her all of our leftover food, and went back home to grab left over pizza from our meal earlier for her as well. Stayed a good hour with her, standing outside a shoe store that was closed. It gets really cold in San Francisco, I don’t know how these homeless people can stand it. Although her circumstances were bad, she still rescued the dogs and adopted them for her own. I do think that when it comes to begging, having the dogs around really increases her chances of landing tangible sympathy. People just gravitate towards you when you have pets around you, especially friendly dogs.
Hope you enjoy the pictures! We truly enjoyed ourselves there, and SF is one of those places you have to go back more than once.
no one mourns the wicked!
